Greatness is not about being better than someone else… IT IS ABOUT BEING BETTER THAN YOU USED TO BE.
— Be the best you can be
Breathwork refers to any type of breathing exercises or techniques which are done consciously. Practicing breathwork regularly improves your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. During breathwork you intentionally change your breathing pattern. There are many forms of breathwork modalities and they all root on the ancient pranayama practice, and some have been further developed.
Different Breathwork styles bring different results, nevertheless, we could say there are two main branches:
- Breath regulation practices
The main goal is to balance the nervous system. We can increase or decrease the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our body, activating either the sympathetic (fight or flight) or parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. These breathing practices range from a couple minutes to 30 minutes.
Benefits:
improves sleep
strengthens the immune system
reduces anxiety and stress
improves digestion
increases concentration and focus and
improves physical performance.
Some practices are:
– Buteyko Breathing
– Wim Hof method
– Breath of fire (to energize)
– Coherent breathing (to balance)
– Alternate nostril breathing
2. Conscious Connected Breathing
The main goal is to assist you with emotional coping and personal and spiritual growth. These Breathwork Journeys are accompanied with music and guided by a certified facilitator. Being guided by a facilitator is important, since strong emotional releases can occur and you want to have the support of an experienced practitioner. Breathwork journeys usually last between 45 and 90 minutes.
Helps by:
healing trauma
processing grief
improving anger issues
increasing confidence, self-image and self-esteem
increasing joy and happiness
overcoming addictions
releasing negative thoughts and many more
Using this breathing technique slows down the thinking mind (known as monkey mind), and allows unresolved issues to come up. These issues or unresolved emotions always manifest in the body with sensations. When we let them flourish consciously, and just allow them to finish their cycle, these emotions will resolve and healing can occur. Most of the times, by the end f the session, we end up feeling bliss.
It’s worth to experience a breathwork journey. I offer group and 1:1 sessions.
